Wilderness Challenge

Students—do you want to be pushed and challenged to new limits of what you thought was possible?

It is in the moments that challenge us that we recognize our need for God and one another. Throughout Scripture, we encounter many stories of God meeting people in the wilderness - lost, broken, scared, searching, exhausted, tested, wrestling, hungry, thirsty, worried, fleeing, hiding, ready to give up…and that encounter transforms them.

The idea of being released from so many of the pressures and weights of society, sounds freeing, until you realize that you have anchored your sense of identity, belonging, and purpose to those. That freedom can be unexpectedly hard. Stepping into the wilderness is an invitation to set yourself adrift in search of a new anchor, one in which our identity, belonging, and purpose are bound to something deeper, stronger, and richer - the love of God, which transforms lives.

This year’s trip will be south of Red River Gorge in Kentucky, near Sheltowee Trace. This year, we will have a base camp located at the top of a mountain. There we will cook, sleep, and spend time doing devotions together. Each day will include different spiritual, physical, and relational challenges that compel students to seek out greater connection with God and one another. Attending pre-trip meetings is REQUIRED for participation in this trip.
