What's Sunday Like?

Whether you're going solo or coming with your family, there's a place for you here.

Ashlee Eiland, Associate Pastor

When you arrive at Mars Hill you’ll be greeted with the scent of great coffee and the sight of bagels piled high, with plenty of cream cheese to make them even tastier. Your little ones can spend time with our staff and volunteers in the Kids area and you can drop them off before you head into the “Shed” for our Worship Gathering. We gather to connect with other Jesus People For The Sake Of The World in a relaxed environment as we sing, pray, and learn more about our great God for about 90 minutes.

Mars Hill | Kids

Our kids programs are a fun and energetic place for growing friendships and building a foundation of faith that will last a lifetime. Classes range from kindergarten through middle school.

If you’re new or you’ve been here a time or two [or two hundred], here are some of the regular questions we get asked.

Where do I park?

Mars Hill is surrounded by parking lot on every side. The closest doors to the worship center [we call it the Shed] are the West or South entrances.

How long are your gatherings?

Our Sunday Gathering begins at 10am [all are welcome for pre-service prayer on the west side of the platform at 9:30] and ends around 11:30.

What is there for my kids?

Mars Hill Kids meets during our Gathering at 10am for Babies, Preschool + Kindergarten, and Elementary [1st- 5th grade]. Special Needs for all ages also meets during the 10am Gathering. Mars Hill Students meets at 4:30pm during the school year for Echo [Middle School] and Anthem [High School].

Do you serve communion?

The Eucharist [communion] is celebrated every Sunday, usually following the teaching. Wafers and juice [regular and gluten free] are served around the platform, and self-serve tables are located around the Shed.

When is baptism celebrated?

We have baptism gatherings two or three times a year, typically on Easter Sunday and a summer Sunday. A baptism class [required] is held a week or two prior to Baptism Sunday.

What are those wooden walls around the back of the Shed?

Those are prayer walls, built by our staff and volunteers, for the Mars Hill community to submit prayer requests in on Sunday mornings. The prayers are collected and prayed for by the staff during the week.

How do I get involved?

Follow us on Instagram and Facebook, come to our Welcome Center on a Sunday morning and talk to the friendly folks there about getting involved, stay after church on the last Sunday of the month for a Ten Minute Talkback to hear more about us, look around on these website pages, or contact us directly at or 616-249-3337.

What if I have a quick question about the church?

Call us during regular business hours, 616-249-3337, or email us at and someone will get back to you within 24 hours.

Live Music. Live Teaching

Join us for weekly worship Sunday mornings at the beginning and end of Gathering. Songs are led live by our in-house band and reflect a contemporary style. Feel free to sit, stand, or pray. We belong to something bigger than ourselves.
