8.28.12  THE SEARCH PROCESS + A MESSAGE FROM KENT

Thank you again for your enthusiastic support of Kent’s new role. We continue to receive positive responses even this week. To provide space for more information on our search process, as well as give Kent the opportunity to say a few words, we’ve developed a short video with messages from both Bill Blacquiere—Chair of the Search Team, and a personal message from Kent on accepting this role. 8.26.12  KENT DOBSON APPOINTED AS NEW TEACHING PASTOR

 

Mars Hill Community,

It’s been 7 months since we began our search for a Teaching Pastor, and we are so thankful for your prayers throughout this process. We, too, have continually asked God to provide us with the Teaching Pastor that He has chosen for us.

So with great joy and excitement, the Elders announce that we have offered the Teaching Pastor role to Kent Dobson, and he has accepted. As a long-time member and frequent guest teacher, Kent both knows and loves our community.

And while we know that Kent really needs no introduction, we will be formally introducing him to the community on September 9 during the 9am and 11am Gatherings. Kent will teach the first week of our Back to Acts series on that day, and he will also be available to greet the community before and after the 11am Gathering.

In the coming weeks, we will continue to provide you with further news and updates. A short video on the search process along with a message from Kent will be posted on our website next week.

Now, as this search process comes to a close, we’d like to once again share our thankfulness for Shane Hipps and his willingness to continue teaching at Mars Hill until this role was filled. Shane will address the community at the close of the 9am + 11am Gatherings on September 2.

And finally, we’d like express our gratefulness to the Mars Hill Covenant Members and the broader community for the overwhelming support and enthusiasm you’ve expressed since this news was announced.
