Classes at Mars Hill provide individuals and communities with age-appropriate, inclusive, learner-centered resources and environments to discover and grow their Identity, Belonging, and Mission.

Mars Hill Community Life

Classes are held periodically throughout the year and vary in time and length. Some meet over the course of several weeks, while others are one-time workshops. Meeting with a Mars Hill staff member and attending orientation and training meetings are required.

Teaching a class requires 3 primary skills.

First, we ask the individual to be a competent communicator who has skill, passion, and experience teaching and learning. It is also important that this person understands that the “teacher” and the “learner” are as much the “curriculum” as the course content.

Second, the individual must be an expert on a particular topic or in the specific field related to the course they’re teaching.

Third, the individual must demonstrate the ability to integrate the course content with the mission of Mars Hill.
