Alcoholics Anonymous is a fellowship of men and women who fight and recover from alcoholism by sharing their experience, strength, and hope with each other. The only requirement for membership is a desire to stop drinking.

An “open” meeting means that anyone may attend this meeting, including friends and loved ones of recovering alcoholics.

A “closed” meeting means only recovering alcoholics may attend. A “Big Book” meeting focuses on the Alcoholics Anonymous Big Book and 12 Step Traditions.
