The book of Acts picks up right after Jesus’ death. Entering into the birth of the church, we find a messy explosion of faith and life: The Holy Spirit shows up. The lame are healed. The sick find health. And a rag tag collection of subversive followers becomes a massive movement overnight.

With so much change so quickly, it’s not long before expressions turn from what just happened… to now what? Jesus doesn’t give his followers a bulleted list of instructions. Instead, he tells them that he’ll be with them as they go into the world. He displays a profound confidence in their ability to carry on the way of life he’d taught them. Acts is the story of a community wondering, “What do we do now?” only to find out that God is right there saying, “You’re going to be okay. You have everything you need. I am with you.”
