Baptism

Interested in being baptized at Mars Hill?

We invite you to participate in believer's baptism, an opportunity to publicly identify yourself with Jesus in his death and resurrection. This is a sacred and beautiful opportunity to declare, "I believe the best possible way to live is the way of Jesus, and I am committed to following Christ—daily dying to myself and allowing the resurrected Christ to live in and through me."

Baptism is not a means of salvation; rather it is a beautiful picture of our union with Christ and our declaring that we join him as the New Exodus people who are living New Creation now.

Our community's baptism services occur at Gatherings each year in the Spring. Contact us to request information about the preparatory baptism class if you're interested in being baptized.

A Note On Infant Baptism

We recognize that many Christian traditions practice infant baptism. We do not see this difference as an issue to be overly concerned about. Mars Hill is in a geographic location where the Reformed tradition is prominent. We greatly respect this tradition, and we would in many ways liken our Child Dedications to what the Reformed tradition does with infant baptism, and the way we celebrate believer's baptism is similar to Profession of Faith in the Reformed tradition.
