Adding Angles
The Biblical narrative is filled with God speaking to his people through unexpected sources. This opens our eyes to the reality God has no use for the line between the sacred and the secular that we use to validate or discredit things within our culture. No matter the source—all truth is God’s truth.
This means our daily encounters with music, TV, movies, novels, graffiti, photographs, video games and shopping malls are all opportunities for encounters with the Divine. It all matters. God can and does use all of these mediums to speak to his people if only we have eyes that see and ears that hear. By assuming a posture of discernment towards these cultural expressions we avoid the pitfalls of blind consumption and total avoidance.
It is for this reason we will intentionally engage with many of the cultural expressions of our day. Open to a two-way dialogue between the cultural text and the Biblical text, we will enter into the stories of musicians, filmmakers and other artists and culture-makers with our eyes and ears open for the sounds of the kingdom.
If you’re a fan of film or music and want to journey with others in exploring what God may be saying through unexpected sources, you’re invited to join us in Adding Angles. Visit our Calendar of Events for details on our upcoming films + concerts.
